These terms apply to driving lessons and related services from Steve Paddy Driving School. By booking a lesson, you agree to them. I've tried to keep them clear and fair.
Steve Paddy Driving School is run by Steve Paddy, a sole trader and approved driving instructor (ADI number 287169)

I provide one-to-one automatic driving lessons in a dual-controlled automaic car, in Chester, Ellesmere Port and the surrounding areas listed on my FAQ page.
Lessons are 90 minutes. That's the minimum booking.
I pick you up from, and drop you back at, an agreed address within my area.
Both addresses must be within the areas I cover, and close enough for me to reach my next pupil on time.
New pupils book a single 90-minute trial lesson through my website, paid in advance at checkout. A trial lesson doesn't commit you to any further lessons. After that, lessons are booked directly with me. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms and be responsible for payment.
Prices are those shown on my website when you book, and my current prices are on the FAQ page. I run a cashless driving school, so I don't accept cash. You can pay by credit card, debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, either online in advance or by card reader in the car at the end of a lesson. Block bookings are paid for in advance. Receipts are available on request.
Before your first lesson you must:
hold a valid UK driving licence (provisional or full), and show me your photocard licence at the start of the lesson
send me a DVLA licence check code before the lesson, so I can check your licence details. I'll email you instructions after you book
be able to read a number plate from 20 metres, wearing glasses or contact lenses if you need them. You'll need to wear them at every lesson
If you can't show me a valid licence or meet the eyesight standard, I won't be able to give the lesson. The lesson fee is still payable.
I ask for at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or change a lesson. Please email me or message me.
More than 48 hours' notice: I'll move your lesson to the next available slot that suits you, with no fee.
Less than 48 hours' notice, or if you don't attend: the full fee for the lesson is charged, or deducted from your block booking. I may use my discretion in a genuine emergency.
This is because a 90-minute slot is hard to fill at short notice. If you arrive late, the lesson still ends at its scheduled time.
If I need to cancel a lesson, for example because of illness, a problem with the car or severe weather, I'll let you know as soon as I can and either rearrange it or refund that lesson.
If you book online, by phone or by email, you normally have the right to cancel within 14 days of booking and receive a refund. To cancel, email me.
If you ask me to start lessons within those 14 days, which includes booking a lesson date within that period, you will need to pay for any lessons already given before you cancel, and I'll refund the rest.
After the 14 days, individual lessons can be cancelled under section 6.
A block booking is four 90-minute lessons paid for in advance, at the price shown on my website.
Lessons within a block follow the same cancellation policy as any other lesson (section 6).
The block must be used within 3 months of purchase.
If you stop having lessons, I'll refund unused lessons at the price you paid, minus the cost of any lessons taken at the standard single-lesson price.
Safety comes first. I may end or refuse a lesson if I believe it would be unsafe, for example if you appear to be unwell or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you ignore my instructions or are abusive. In that case the lesson fee is still payable. Please wear your seatbelt and keep your phone out of reach during the lesson.
I can help you prepare for your practical driving test, but I can't guarantee you'll pass. Please check with me before booking or changing a test, so I can confirm my car is free and that you're ready.
You can use my car for your test only if you've trained with me, consistently meet the safe driving standard, and have passed our in-car mock tests. I don't rent my car to people who haven't had lessons with me.
Nothing in these terms limits my responsibility for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow me to limit. Apart from that, my liability to you for any problem with my services is limited to the amount you paid for the lessons affected, and I'm not responsible for losses that couldn't reasonably have been foreseen.
My car is insured for driving tuition.
How I use your personal information is explained in my Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
If you're unhappy with anything, please tell me by email as soon as you can and I'll do my best to put it right. I aim to reply within 5 working days.
I may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you book is the one that applies to that booking.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also be able to bring a claim in the courts of your own country.
